What It Is
J.B. and the Dance Contest is a 32-page book that combines two of kids' favorite Easter things: bunnies and jelly beans. It's also got something else that makes us happy: dancing. This is a cute, somewhat silly rhyming story by Molly Wigand that follows Jelly Bean, or J.B. as he's nicknamed, a bunny who can really bust a move. And what's the secret to his great dance moves? Why jelly beans, of course! He enters a dance contest, and each color jelly bean he eats helps him dance a different dance. He waltzes, hustles, polkas, and salsas his way to win the judges' hearts and scores. He soon finds that even more fun than winning is dancing with other bunnies. He leads the way and has the most fun Easter ever.
Is It Fun?
This is a nice-looking book filled with brightly colored illustrations and a hard cover. J.B. and the Dance Contest would make a great addition to any child's Easter basket and would be fun to read any time of year.
Who It’s For
While there's not a set recommended age for the book, we think 3-6-year-olds will get the most enjoyment out of this cute and funny story.
What To Be Aware Of
Hallmark also has a coordinating plush toy called Sweet Dancin' Bunny that dances and sings a "Macarena-like" jelly bean song. This toy is sold separately from the book, but both are available to purchase exclusively at Hallmark stores.
