What It Is
Kids can gather intel on key conversations with the Spy Gear Spike Mic Launcher. Using either the suction cup dart tip or the sticky dart tip, the microphone dart will stick to a flat surface and broadcast through the launcher base whatever conversation is being held. You can also plug headphones (sold separately) into the launcher to listen in secret. The microphone dart works more than 50 feet away from the launcher.
With the suction cup dart tip, you'll need to adhere the microphone dart to a wall by hand. If you use the sticky dart tip, you can use the bungee cord launcher to send the microphone dart flying in the air until it reaches a flat surface to stick to. The launcher includes built-in storage for the dart tips and the launch bracket.
Is It Fun?
This roleplay toy lets kids have their own pretend spy adventures. It works well as long as people don't talk right into the microphone. What doesn't work well is the launching feature. It is difficult to hook the microphone dart to the bungee cords, and you can't pull back very far on the bungee cords, which means that you definitely cannot launch the dart 50 feet as the packaging suggests. Also, our microphone dart only worked from about 30 feet away from the launcher instead of 50 feet or more.
Who It’s For
The Spy Gear Spike Mic Launcher is for ages 6 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
Four AAA batteries are required but not included. The microphone dart comes with a built-in rechargeable LiPo battery. It takes between 25 and 30 minutes to get a full charge.
It took us about five minutes to assemble the Spy Gear Spike Mic Launcher. The instructions were easy to follow.
Do not aim the dart at eyes or faces.
If the sticky dart tip gets dirty, remove it from the dart and wash it with water.
