- Stick Storm Cobra Strike from Goliath Games
- We recommend this product for ages 7 and up
What It Is
Stick Storm is a creative activity that merges art, science, and tongue depressors. The Stick Storm Cobra Strike set includes everything kids need to weave structures out of tongue depressor-like sticks and set them in motion. Stick Storm Cobra Strike comes with 200 sticks, a starter tool, four five-position connectors, six three-position connectors, two multilayer connectors, four normal balloons, four long balloons, four balloon trigger sticks, four balloon trigger clips, one balloon mouthpiece, and novelty glasses.
Follow the instructions to familiarize yourself with how to weave the sticks together and set the sticks in motion. You're basically overlapping sticks and building a long sort of basket weave-type chain. When you're ready to set the sticks in motion, release the locking stick at the end of the weave, causing a chain reaction of sticks flipping up in the air. (This happens because of kinetic energy.)
The instructions also show kids how to build stick structure bridges, structures that go up the wall, and a balloon stunt you can do with the structures. Kids can also create their own stick structures and visit stickstorm.com for videos that show how to build additional stunts, including some of those seen on the product's package.
Is It Fun?
This is a pretty cool activity toy. Who knew that tongue depressors could be so much fun? Kids will like experimenting with the length of their stick chains and the elaborateness of their stunt structures to create all sorts of wild stick storms. However, this is definitely a toy that requires a lot of patience as kids weave the sticks to make the chain longer and longer. It might take a few attempts to get the hang of it, but once you get it, building the chain is really easy.
Who It’s For
Stick Storm is for ages 7 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
The structure you choose to build really determines the amount of time it will take you to build. We recommend that you build on a large flat surface, preferably the floor, especially if you want to make some of the larger stunt structures.
