What It Is
The Kiss Box is a sweet story of reassurance that when Mother Bear must leave her child, even for a little while, she still loves him. Before she leaves home, Mama Bear offers many ways for Little Bear to remember how much she loves him. But none seem right to the young cub. Little Bear comes up with the idea of making one another a Kiss Box that would be filled with a hundred kisses so they are able to stay connected, no matter where they are.
Is It Fun?
This book is reminiscent of similar stories that deal with separation anxiety, but most, such as The Kissing Hand, deal with a child going to school. What’s different about this story is that there are times when mom is the one who has to go away, whether it’s just on an errand or for a few nights on a business trip. That’s the reality of today’s moms. A box of mom’s kisses when she is not around to give them herself is a great idea! And, it’s one that can easily be replicated in anyone’s home.
Who It’s For
The publisher recommends this book for grades PreK and up, but it’s so tender and relevant that preschoolers would love it as well.
What To Be Aware Of
It’s available only in hardcover for $16.99.
