What It Is
Make Candy Dots is part of the Mix a Treat line from Alex Toys. With this food activity kit, kids can make colorful candy dots. The kit comes with three colors of candy dot powder (blue, yellow, and pink), a design guide, 10 paper strips, paper cups, pastry bags, a pipette, and instructions. You'll also need warm water, a small tray, scissors, and a fridge to complete the activity.
Mix the candy powder with water, and use the pastry bag to squeeze drops of the candy onto the paper. Use the design guide to make different designs, such as a heart, butterfly, or peace sign. Refrigerate for 30 minutes, and then the candy dots are ready for you to peel and eat.
Is It Fun?
This activity is fairly easy to do. Food activities like this are more about doing the activity than actually eating the finished product. Although, for those who do eat the candy dots, expect a very sweet crunch.
Who It’s For
Make Candy Dots is for ages 7 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
We needed to add more water, which the instructions mentioned may be the case.
If your child has food allergies, make sure to read the label carefully. The candy dot powder is made in a facility that processes milk, eggs, soy, wheat, and gluten.
Parents who are concerned about kids eating too much sugar should, of course, monitor consumption.
