What It Is
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Clash Alley is a strategy board game where players compete to be the first turtle to complete a mission and make it back to his home space. The game comes with a game board, four movers, four mover bases, four Mission Tiles, 12 Villain Tiles, three dice, 13 platforms, 44 Action Cards, four Mission Cards, and instructions.
On the 3-D game board, there are platforms, Villain Tiles, and Mission Tiles. Each player takes a Mission Card, two Action Cards, and a turtle. Players take turns rolling the dice to find out how far they may run, climb, and leap. A player may choose to use any or all the movement methods, and he can do them in any order.
For example, if you roll a 3 on the run die, you may move up to 3 spaces on one level only in any direction except diagonally. If you roll a 3 on the leap die, you may leap down off the edge of a platform in one direction up to 3 spaces. You cannot leap up. And if you roll a 2 on the climb die, you may climb a platform up to two levels. But you have to be next to a platform.
If you land on a Villain Tile, you must attack and defeat the villain. To do this, play any Attack Bonus cards you have and roll the yellow die. Add that number to your attack bonuses to find your attack total. If your attack total is greater than the number on the Villain Tile, you have defeated the villain and you earn more Action Cards. If you lose the attack, you must sit out the next two rounds of play.
If you land on a Mission Tile and play a Go for Mission card, you can peek under the tile and take it if it's the tile you need. Once you have the tile you need, start heading back to your home space.
Aside from Attack Bonus and Go for Mission cards, there are additional Action Cards that allow players to take extra moves, steal cards, escape a villain, and more.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Clash Alley is for two to four players.
Is It Fun?
This is a game that gets players thinking strategically as they determine how to split up their move and make it to a mission card. We like the 3-D game board and how it allows players to move up and down instead of just straight across a board. It adds a little more action to the gameplay and also makes a fun play scene if kids want to play with the game pieces for non-gaming imaginative play.
Who It’s For
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Clash Alley is for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans ages 6 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
It takes about 15 minutes to set up the game board.
There's a lot going on in this board game, so it's helpful to read through the instructions before you play so you have a better idea of how you can move, how you earn cards, how you play cards, etc.
