What It Is
Colorgami is a craft and activity line that lets kids color fashions on paper models and then stand them up on display stands. Grandparents will recognize these as a new version of classic paper dolls. The Red Carpet Fashion Series includes giant-sized perforated craft sheets for coloring and constructing four 3-D glamor models. There are also paper dolls of paparazzi that can be set up to mimic a real red carpet experience. Use the four washable markers, including the shimmering gold marker, to color and design the dresses and gowns, as well as included accessories such as jewelry, hats, and handbags. Once the coloring is done, just pop out the accessories and dresses from the perforated sheets and connect the letters on the bottom to stand them up and display.
Is It Fun?
This is a classic activity kit for kids who are interested in fashion and love watching celebrities walk down the red carpet at awards shows. The kit only comes with four markers, and we think you'll want to add other markers you might already own so that kids can really get creative and use a lot of different colors in their dress and accessory designs. We'd recommend enhancing the creations with glitter, glue and notions if you want to engage kids over time. Some kids might want to keep their designs out on display, while others may want to use their creations to play out their own scenes from the red carpet.
Who It’s For
Colorgami The Red Carpet Fashion Series is for ages 5 and up.
What To Be Aware Of
Additional Colorgami kits are available and sold separately.
For best results and easiest use, color in the dresses and accessories before you punch them out of the craft sheets.
While this can certainly be a fun activity, as noted earlier, the stuff that comes with the set is somewhat limiting. Younger kids may be fine just with coloring in the dresses, but older kids—and especially those who enjoy crafts and fashion—will want more stuff to allow them to be more creative.
The play is really in the coloring and creativity. There really is limited play with the paper dolls once they're finished, other than to display them.
