What It Is
The Primary Science line brings science to preschoolers through fun and functional toys. The Catch 'n' View is a two-in-one net and tent that allows kids to catch butterflies and bugs, view them, then release them. It comes with an adjustable handle so kids can get close to a bug or capture it from a longer distance. (The handle adjusts from nine to 17 inches.) Once you catch a creature in the net, snap the lid on the net, then pull the cuff to release the hinge. Hook the net ring through the stem of the leaf at the bottom of the handle. Make sure the handle is fully extended, and you've created a stand-alone tent in which you can view your creature. When you're done making your observations, release the creature back into the wild.
Is It Fun?
The Primary Science Catch 'n' View helps curious preschoolers explore the world around them. This two-in-one functional toy is a great way to spark an interest in science and the environment.
Who It’s For
The Primary Science Catch 'n' View is for ages 3 and up. Younger kids might need help from parents or an older sibling to turn the net into a tent.
What To Be Aware Of
Make sure the ring is on the outside of the net, otherwise you won't be able to create the tent.
Always release your creature when you are done observing.
Parents may want to set ground rules for what bugs are appropriate to catch. In other words, butterflies, yes; bees and wasps, no.
