What It Is
What It Is
With the Count & Draw, kids can play numbers games and practice writing numbers and drawing lines and shapes. In Shapes & Lines mode, kids draw lines and shapes on the screen with the stylus by following the lights. In Numbers mode, kids use the stylus to trace the lights and write the numbers 0—10. In Games mode, kids can play Treasure Hunt, where they count the treasure using more than/less than skills, or Animals in the Barn, where kids use early addition and subtraction to count animals that come and go. To erase what kids have drawn on the screen, simply move the tab from one side to the other. As kids draw and write, they are also introduced to position words, such as "under" "above," and "inside."
The Count & Draw is a good introduction to numbers, shapes, and early math concepts for preschoolers.
Parents can personalize the Count & Draw by adding in their child's age. Go to leapfrog.com/personalize, enter the product information, and follow the steps. No connection between the Count & Draw and your computer is necessary.
Why It’s Fun
Kids like the interaction and the writing, which allows them to feel older. They'll find it easy to follow the patterns as they work, and they'll likely enjoy the audio responses they get to their action and they'll feel proud as they master the activities. There's also a lot of repeat play in it as kids engage with the toy.
Who It’s For
The Count & Draw is for ages 3 and up.
What to Be Aware of
The Count & Draw comes with three AAA batteries, but these are for in-store demo purposes. LeapFrog recommends replacing them before you play for best results.
The Count & Draw is a follow-up to LeapFrog's Scribble & Write toy. Parents and kids who know that will find the play familiar. This is a great opportunity for co-play with parent and child, which is an effective way to create learning.
You have to create a LeapFrog online account to be able to program the toy with the child's age. If you don't want to do that, we'll tell you. Turn off the toy. Hold down the "10" button and turn on the toy. Follow the audio prompts to enter the child's age.
