What It Is
The Kidizoom Smartwatch is a smartwatch for kids with camera, video, and photo effect features as well as mini learning games and a clock. Navigate through the different features using the watch's home button, shutter button, and touchscreen. Just tap the home button to display the clock. You can press the home button again to display the home menu with 12 different activities to choose from, including a timer, alarm, stopwatch, and selection of more than 50 analog and digital clock faces.
You can also choose to take pictures and video with sound. Connecting the Kidizoom to a computer using the included USB cable allows kids to transfer their photos and video from the watch to the computer. The watch's 128 MB of internal memory can store about 800 photos or six one-minute videos.
The three built-in mini games are Super Detective, a memory game; Rotating Puzzle, a timed puzzle game; and Finger Dance, a game where kids must tap music notes when circles appear. There is also a Time Master activity where an owl character tells kids the time based on an analog or digital clock. Additional learning games can be downloaded from the VTech Learning Lodge, which a parent will need to set up by connecting the Kidizoom to a computer.
Parents can also set daily time limits for how long their children can play on the watch: 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and no time limit. Once your child has reached the set time limit, he or she will not be able to access the games for the rest of that day. The time limit will reset the next day.
The watch runs on a rechargeable battery that takes three hours to get a full charge, and that gives you two weeks of play, although the actual battery life will depend on how often your child plays with the Kidizoom. The watch is also splash- and sweatproof for everyday play, but should not be submerged in water or worn in the shower, bathtub, or pool. The Kidizoom Smartwatch is available in green, white, pink, and blue. Each is sold separately.
