LeapReader Junior Book Team Umizoomi Playground Power Review (LeapFrog)

What It Is

The LeapReader Junior Book Team UmiZoomi: Playground Power is an interactive 20-page board book filled with colorful illustrations of Geo, Milli, and Bot in UmiCity. It is compatible with the LeapReader Junior, which is sold separately. Your child can use his LeapReader Junior Book Pal to hear more than 150 audio prompts throughout the book. Kids can read along with the text, which tells the story of Team UmiZoomi saving the day by cleaning up UmiCity's playground after a storm. Kids can also interact with the characters by touching the pictures on each page. Just like the Nickelodeon series, the book focuses on mathematical concepts, encouraging kids to use their Mighty Math Powers along with the characters. Using real character voices from the TV show Team Umizoomi, kids are prompted to count, measure, identify shapes and patterns, and more along with Geo, Milli, and Bot. There are also songs and fun sound effects throughout the book.

Is It Fun?

Overall, Playground Power offers a fun way to encourage toddlers to read, count, and follow directions. Existing fans of the show will love helping their favorite characters, while kids who aren't familiar with the show will still enjoy the activities.

Who It’s For

LeapReader Junior Book Team UmiZoomi: Playground Power is for ages 1-3, but some parts may be a bit advanced for kids on the younger end of the age range who will be more likely to touch random places on the page than actually read the story. In this book, touching a specific character or picture on the page prompts the next action, and toddlers may not figure that out until they're closer to 3 years old.

What To Be Aware Of

You will need to have your LeapReader Junior set up with your computer and the audio for Playground Power downloaded onto your LeapReader Junior Book Pal before you start.
