Small Bunny's Blue Blanket Review (Alfred A. Knopf)

What It Is

Small Bunny's Blue Blanket, written by Tatyana Feeney and published by Alfred A. Knopf, is a 24-page board book that tells a very relatable story for both parents and kids. The main character, Bunny, has a very special item he keeps with him at all times-his blue blanket. Bunny goes on the swing with Blue Blanket, paints with Blue Blanket, goes in the sand box with Blue Blanket, and more. For bunny, Blue Blanket is that one item that kids never want to let go of... ever. That also goes for cleaning Blue Blanket. So when Bunny's mom wants to wash Blue Blanket, Bunny is worried his friend won't be the same.

Is It Fun?

This book is relatable, simple, and just plain fun to read. It's a sweet story that perfectly captures a young child's relationship with their security blanket. A blanket can often become more than just a comforting object for a child, it can even be considered a friend. We also liked that it addresses the idea of friendship as well as the idea that sometimes change-as well as cleanliness-are a necessity.

Who It’s For

Small Bunny's Blue Blanket is for ages 2-5.
