Sunny Day Pond Review (Peaceable Kingdom)

What It Is

The Sunny Day Pond Puzzle Game from Peaceable Kingdom is a 2-4 player cooperative game for preschoolers. Instead of competing against each other, players in this game are going to work as a team to win the game together. Rules for the game are built into the game box. The object of the game is to complete three different four-piece puzzles.

The game begins with all the puzzle pieces mixed together and turned faced down so that only the pieces with the purple, orange, or green backs show. Players take turns spinning the spinner to see which colored piece they can flip over. Land on a rainbow and you get to choose any color you'd like to flip. Land on a color for a puzzle that's already complete and all the players get to make the sounds and movements of that animal for fun. If the spinner lands on a rain drop, place a rain drop piece on an empty space under the cloud on the board. Win the game by completing all the puzzles before the six rain drops are placed on the board, otherwise it's a rainy day at sunny pond and you'll have to play again.

Is It Fun?

While we always think a little friendly competition is a good thing and for toddlers and preschoolers cooperative learning is really key. This game is intended for younger kids so no reading is required. This makes it easier for kids to practice their color matching skills, work together, and understand the gameplay. We also think making silly animal sounds and movements will help engage kids as they play.
