In celebration of the 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, USAopoly has introduced a Monopoly game that's sure to please Monopoly lovers and Wizard of Oz fans alike. Featuring the first-ever 3-D board in a Monopoly game, new gameplay options, and ruby red dice, this game is truly a tribute to the classic movie.
You'll need two to six players to play. Players choose from one of six tokens: Toto, Dorothy's ruby slippers, Scarecrow's diploma, the Cowardly Lion's medal, the Tin Man's heart, or the Wicked Witch's hat. Then, decide whether to play using traditional Monopoly rules or integrate the pop-up center into the gameplay and follow the alternative rules. If you follow the latter, you enter the pop-up Land of Oz in the center of the game board when landing on one of the four transportation spaces on the board, and then roll the die to see where in the center to go. Once there, follow the directive on the Legend card to deploy a special power.
The game board starts in black and white and transforms into color just like the movie, and it features 22 of the top locations in The Wizard of Oz including the Gale farm, Yellow Brick Road, Poppy Fields, Haunted Forest, and more. "Houses" and "hotels" are represented by "farmhouses" and "Emerald Cities," and the Monopoly money issued by the Bank of Emerald City includes pictures of each of the main characters. Fans will love drawing Wicked Witch or Glinda the Good Witch cards; buying, selling, and trading Munchkinland, Emerald City, and more; or going into the Land of Oz itself.
Whichever style of gameplay you decide to follow, you won't be disappointed by the Oz-filled details throughout. This is a well-made, fun game for fans, collectors, or anyone who wants to play a good old-fashioned game of Monopoly with a twist.
Monopoly: The Wizard of Oz 75th Anniversary Collector's Edition is for fans ages 8 and up.
