Dragons: Defenders of Berk Hatching Dragons Review (Spin Master)

What It Is

With the Dreamworks Dragons: Defenders of Berk Hatching Dragons from Spin Master, kids can hatch one of four mystery miniature Dragons characters: Stormfly, Toothless, Meatlug, and Belch & Barf. To use, drop the egg into a cup or bowl of water and watch and wait as the egg's casing will fizz away to reveal your dragon. During the process the encasing will dissolve like bath salts and change the color of the water. The outer-shell will remain but once the process is complete you can simply pierce or peal it away to reveal your mini dragon.

Is It Fun?

Kids will enjoy the surprise of hatching their own dragon eggs. But while fun to watch at first, it's a process that ends up involving more waiting than excitement.

Who It’s For

Dreamworks Dragons: Defenders of Berk Hatching Dragons is for ages 4 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Directions were vague; only visual aids were provided. There was no indication of what temperature the water should be or how long it would take to "hatch" the egg. We did a bit of testing and found that warm water works best because it speeds up the break down of the egg faster than in cold water.

The figure will likely still have some plaster-like residue on it after it hatches. We suggest washing it off before play.

It took a little more than 30 minutes to dissolve.
