The Christmas Wish Review (Random House)

What It Is

In the Nordic countryside lives a little girl named Anja who wishes she was one of Santa's elves. Anja sets off to find Santa and with the help of a cardinal, she is escorted across the frozen tundra by a horse, polar bear and other Nordic animals. At last, Anja reaches the North Pole, where she meets Santa and is invited to ride along with him on Christmas Eve. When she awakens on Christmas morning, she finds that she is magically back in her own bed, leaving her, and readers, to wonder if it was all a dream.

Is It Fun?

Rather than traditional picture book drawn or computer generated illustrations, all pictures are real-life photos and a great way for children to see what it's like to be a child in the Nordic regions. The star of the book is the daughter of the married author and photographer team.

Who It’s For

The Christmas Wish is best suited for children aged 3 to 7.

What To Be Aware Of

The story is sweet, though predictable and would be a good find at your local library.
