Quercetti Filo Mini Review (International Playthings)

What It Is

Quercetti Filò Mini from International Playthings is an art kit with a special play board and colorful laces to create works of art. Kids can create and recreate their own personalized works of art using one of four different colored string that look like the type you might use to lace up your sneakers.

Press the string using the included pen tool into the holes on the play board. Simply poke the hole with the tool and pull back. Be sure not to push the tool all the way in, just enough to catch the string. You only work on the front of the board to make your designs. You can make the string looser or tighter to create different effects, such as loosen it to create clouds or flower petals.

Is It Fun?

This is a compact version of the larger Filo playset that we think makes it more suitable for play on roadtrips or on the go. This is a activity kit that also offers a lot of open-ended play.

Who It’s For

The Querrecetti Filo Mini is recommended for ages 3 and up, but after testing it we think it might be better suited for kids ages 4, or even 5, and up. Using the pen tool requires a certain amount of dexterity and force to puncture the holes that we think some three-year-olds may struggle with.

What To Be Aware Of

Visual instructions are on the back of the packaging but it's still not much to go off of, which is great in terms of offering a child an open-ended play experience, but can be a bit confusing when you are first familiarizing yourself with how it works.
