Terzetto Review (Gamewright)

What It Is

Terzetto is a pattern matching puzzle and game. The idea is to place as many of your 24 marbles on a 24-opening grid following patterns created at random in the shaker. To play, put 24 marbles, three each of eight colors, in your tray. Then shake the shaker and replicate the pattern with the marbles on your board using three of any color. The grid is five by five, but the shaker is three by three, so there are a lot of options available to you. You have to think strategically so you can leave as many options open for placing your marbles because once the board fills up, you may be stymied. But that's all right. Just dump them out and start again. If you're playing head-to-head, the object is to play more marbles on your board than your opponent before you're both stopped. If you have to pass because your pattern won't fit, you're out. Terzetto is for one to two players.

Is It Fun?

This game/puzzle mixes chance, spatial perception, and strategy in an intriguing way. There's enough randomness to keep it interesting, and your strategy can change with every move. This is definitely for people who are intrigued by puzzles, and it's a nice update of a classic puzzle style.

Who It’s For

Terzetto is for ages 8 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

The marbles are small, so you'll want to make sure you keep them out of reach of young children.
