Dora the Explorer Alphabet Journey Review (VTech)

What It Is

The Dora the Explorer Alphabet Journey features Dora's real voice with six interactive activities. The activities can be found on the right side under the on/off button, and you use the big Dora button and the letter buttons to play. The activities introduce letters, counting, colors, shapes, logic, and more. In Letter Time, the 26 letter buttons identify words associated with each letter in both English and Spanish. In Sound Adventure, Finding Adventure, and Guessing Game, kids are asked to find words on the board or solve riddles using the words. While the activities are mostly in English, there are a few Spanish words that your child may not be able to identify right away if they don't speak the language. For example, Dora will ask to find something using the Spanish word, and that may be challenging at first. But the English word will be given if your child doesn't get the answer right away. In the Star Catching activity, kids are asked to identify different colors. Our blue stars look more like aqua green than blue, but we're not sure if all of the toys have that same issue. Dora's Alphabet Journey also plays melodies and kids can make their own music using the Singing Stars activity where the letters function as piano keys. Its carry handle makes it easy to take on the go.

Is It Fun?

The Dora the Explorer Alphabet Journey is a fun learning toy whether or not your child is a fan of Dora. Kids will like all the different activities and hearing Dora talk and interact with them as they play. This learning toy is a nice introduction to letters, counting, colors, shapes, logic, and the Spanish language.
