Vibrobot is a construction toy with a vibrating motor that lets kids build seven different robotic machines and discover how vibration technology works. Kids use the 80 pieces to assemble whatever robot they want around the motor. Then they can experiment with different elements, such as balance and the positioning of the robots arms, to learn how different factors affect movement. This translates into real life to help kids understand that a tiny unbalanced motor in their cell phone causes the phone to vibrate. The other experiments and configurations help kids learn about force, levers, and even the effects of vibration on the body and even how ice skating works. (Spoiler alert: the friction generated by the vibration of the blade on the ice melts it slightly so you slide freely.)
The experiments are easy to follow, and the text is clearly written at a level that a third or fourth grader should easily understand. In addition to the learning, the resulting toys are fun to play with for kids who are curious about the world around them.
Vibrobot is for ages 8 and up.
