Monstergarten Review (Feiwel & Friends)

What It Is

Patrick, a young monster, wants to enter Monstergarten by showing that he already knows how to be an expert at being scary. He practices and practices but worries that he is not scary enough to cut it at school. Thanks to some encouragement and reassurance from his mother and best friend, he manages to make it through the first day.

Is It Fun?

Scary or not, back-to-school is around the corner! This new book is a fantastic tool to encourage children to talk about their feelings and possible anxiety about starting to kindergarten. Kids will likely empathize with Patrick's fears about fitting in and being "good enough." The vibrant illustrations and easy-to-follow story make this a perfect gift for any child going to school for the first time.

Who It’s For

Though the title Monstergarten suggests kindergarten age, this book is definitely appropriate for those entering pre-K as well.

What To Be Aware Of

The monsters are friendly looking, so there shouldn't be much of a fright factor, if any.
