Splash Art Review (Reeve and Jones)

What It Is

Kids can create colorful works of art using water with Splash Art. This double-sided drawing toy has two drawing surfaces that let kids draw without using messy crayons, markers, or paint. Fill the special pen with water and start drawing on one of the two drawing surfaces. As kids move the pen over the surface, rainbow colors will appear. When the surface is dry, the colors will disappear, and kids can draw all over again. Splash Art has a built-in storage space for the pen and a carry handle for on-the-go play.

Is It Fun?

We've seen other toys that allow kids to create with water, and those are a little bit better designed than this one. For starters, the Splash Art pen leaks. While you're drawing on the surface, the water runs, causing your artwork to end up blotchy. Also, it takes a long time for the drawing surface to dry, and kids can't really continue creating until all the color is gone. Even if you draw on one side and then flip the toy over to draw on the other side, the first side is still wet and will get your lap or whatever it's sitting on wet.

Who It’s For

Splash Art is for ages 12 months and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Do not use pens, paint, or pencils on the drawing surfaces. These could permanently damage the surface. This toy is for water only.
