Nerf Rebelle Mission Central App Rail Mount Review (Hasbro)

What It Is

Nerf Rebelle Mission Central App Rail Mount and app are part of the Nerf Rebelle line of blasters and gear designed for girls. Once you've downloaded the free Nerf Rebelle app, pop open the rail mount insert your iPhone or iPod. Snap it closed and slide it onto the rail of your Gaurdian Crossbow or Pink Crush blaster.

The first time you open the app, you are asked a series of multiple choice questions to find out what kind of Rebelle Girl you are. Then chose your Rebelle Girl name and select and change their avatar for the app.

The app also features different missions, which you can select by character (Strong Heart, Guardian, Power Pair, Sweet Revenge, or Pink Crush) or type (solo, co-op, or competitive). There are various types of missions under each of the categories and as you compete you can hit the buttons in the top corner of your screen to take photos and videos on your skills in action. Competing in missions also earns you achievements and Rebelle XP experience points to unlock new outfits and accessories for your avatar. Sync and share your rewards with a friend to earn more experience points.

Additional app features include a gallery, where you can add stickers to your photos and video; mini games; and a list of the achievements you have earned and can still earn. An additional Squad feature lets you prepare for your next Nerf battle. Invite your friends to join your squad and pick sides for team challenges and missions.

Is It Fun?

Nerf Rebelle is introducing more girls to the fun of foam dart battles while also building off the popular trend of strong and empowering female heroines like The Hunger Games' Katniss Everdeen and Brave's Merida. The Nerf Rebelle Mission Central app delves deeper into this message and gives girls a tool to practice their aim and ready for battle. Girls will like the social aspects of this app and customizing their avatars to suit their personalities and Rebelle girl personas. We also like that the mini games let you keep engaging with Nerf Rebelle when you don't have your blaster at hand, and they are just fun, quick games to pass the time.

Who It’s For

Nerf Rebelle Mission Central App Rail Mount and app are for ages 8 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

The Nerf Rebelle Mission Central App Rail Mount is currently only compatible with the Nerf Guardian Crossbow and Pink Crush blasters. The mount is also only compatible with iPhone and iPod touch.

Using the bull's eye that appears on your screen to aim takes practice and there is definitely a learning curve. For young girls this can get frustrating. What appears on the screen is being shown from a camera that is situated above your Nerf blaster making it difficult to accurately hit your target. We've found that it works best to align the camera with the bottom hole in the mount, although there is still some difficulty.

Download the free app from the Apple App Store. The app is compatible with iPhone (3GS, 4, 4S, and 5), iPod touch (3rd, 4th, and 5th generation), and iPad devices.

A rubber cradle is included to hold your iPod touch device more securely in the rail mount.
