Rainbow Loom Review (Choon's Design, LLC)

What It Is

Rainbow Loom is a creative craft kit that lets kids make bracelets and more from simple rubber bands. The process is a little bit of a cross between crochet and rug-hooking, but for kids who probably don't know what either of those are, it's just plain fun. To make a basic bracelet, place the rubber bands on the pegs that make up the loom, and then use the hook to wrap them over one another. Work along the loom until you reach the end, then attach a C-hook and pull your creation off the loom, close it up, and you're ready to wear it. Kids can also experiment to create their own bracelet designs once they've mastered the basic bracelet. Just remember that the rubber bands have to be hooked together for the bracelet to stay together.

Is It Fun?

Getting the hang of working with the hook can take some time, but the loom's design is pretty ingenious as you can insert the hook right into the peg to catch the rubber band more easily. We found that a combination of using the hook and good old-fashioned fingers to stretch the bands worked best, and once we got the hang of it, it became a creative and satisfying craft.

Who It’s For
