Barbie Mariposa & the Fairy Princess Review (Golden Books)

What It Is

Barbie Mariposa & the Fairy Princess is a Little Golden Book re-telling of the direct-to-DVD/Blu-ray movie of the same name. The 24-page book is adapted by Mary Tillworth and illustrated by the Ulkutay Design Group. In the story, Mariposa is asked by Queen Marabella and Prince Carlos to become a royal ambassador and travel to Shimmervale, where the Crystal Fairies live, to prove that Butterfly Fairies and Crystal Fairies can be friends. It is easy for Mariposa to become friends with the Crystal Fairy princess Catania, but Catania's father, King Regellius, is not easily swayed. Mariposa must prove to the king that the Butterfly Fairies are worthy of his trust, and she gets the opportunity to do so when the evil fairy Gwyllion attempts to destroy the Crystal Fairies' Crystallites.
