Party like cavemen with Ooga Booga, a memory game with a prehistoric theme. The object is to be the first player to run out of cards by successfully repeating the Ooga Booga chant.
The game is for three to six players, and the number of players you have determines how many cards each player gets. To play, the first player turns over the top card of his card pile and places it in the center of the table. Then he says the word written on the card and challenges the player to his left by pointing to that player and saying, "Ha!" For example, if the card said "Grrr", the player would say "Grrr" and then "Ha!" while pointing to the player on his left. The next player would turn over his top card and place it on top of the previously played card so that the word is covered but not the picture. That player says the words from both cards in order and finishes with "Ha!" as he points to the player on his left. For example, if the second card played was "Gloo", the second player would say "Grrr, Gloo, Ha!" Play continues with each player adding a card to the chain and repeating the previous cards in order.
If a Rumba card is played, that reverses the direction of the play. If you play one of the three action cards, you must recite the chain and then perform the action, either banging your fist on the table, clapping, or sticking out your tongue. That action then becomes part of the chain.
If a player forgets a word, misremembers, stutters, or hesitates too long, he must take three cards from the chain and add them to his personal pile. Then a new round begins.
If you manage to add your last card to the chain and correctly repeat all sounds up to your own, yell "Ooga Booga!" instead of "Ha!" and win the game.
All of the cards and instructions can be stored in the included circular game tin.
Ooga Booga is a fun new memory game that kids will find silly and everyone will find challenging. We like that the action cards bring some physical activity to the game. The compact storage canister makes it easy to take and play Ooga Booga on the go. This is a fun way to further the development of speech and language skills along with memory skills.
Ooga Booga is for ages 7 and up.
The instructions also include two advanced variations on the gameplay.
