The Star Wars Interactive R2D2 Astromech Droid from Hasbro is about the closest thing that you can get to the real R2, without building one yourself.
R2 responds to your voice with lights, sounds and actions. He has over 40 pre-programmed commands that he will respond to and you can navigate him around by speaking simple commands like "Go forward… 3 units". Some of the most fun commands for R2 involve asking him to recall different Star Wars characters and getting him to dance.
This R2-D2 is for Star Wars fans, ages 8 and up.
R2 has a utility arm, which can hold things like a can of soda and his sensory array, which can be snapped on. For best results you should use R2 on a flat, hard surface in a relatively quiet room and you have to speak clearly. Even if you do all that, R2 seems to have a mind of his own and getting him to obey your commands doesn't always work out so he might just do his own thing for a while.
R2-D2 needs 4 "AA" batteries and 4 "D" batteries, which are not included.
This is available at Hammacher Schlemmer, Amazon.com, and Skymall.com.
