Hexbug Aquabot is a robotic fish that is water-activated, so when you drop it in a bowl of water, it immediately begins swimming. It will swim about five minutes before automatically shutting off. You can leave it in the water, but if you want to stop it, lift it out of the water and drop it in again to get it started.
There are other robotic fish available, but this one is especially good because in addition to the movement, the transparent body lets kids see how the robotics work and makes this unique with features such as variable speeds that mimic the activities of a real fish. Kids can also see the mechanics that come close to replicating real fish.
There are several different colors of Hexbug Aquabot to collect. This version comes with a plastic bowl, but you can also buy individual Hexbug Aquabots separately.
With all the toys that we see in a given year, it's very rare that we can't wait for something to be available. But this one is so cool and fascinating, it's great that it's finally here. Just like real fish, this is fascinating to watch. Kids who like robotics will be especially fascinated by its realistic movements and the fish's ability to dive and change directions as well as variable speeds. Who wouldn't want a bowl full of these?
Hexbug Aquabot is for ages 3 and up.
