Perplexus Review (Spin Master)

What It Is

The Perplexus puzzle game may look familiar, and it has been around for awhile. But this year, there is a new company, Spin Master, manufacturing the toy.

The Perplexus spherical puzzle maze has fascinated players as they try to run a small BB-like ball through a complex maze of twists and turns on a track inside the clear plastic outer sphere. Players must roll the ball to one of three starting points and then flip, twist, and spin Perplexus to move the ball around the numbered path and the 100 different obstacles to the end. If the ball falls off the track, you have to start over.

Is It Fun?

This is a hard puzzle to solve. It requires concentration and finesse as you move the Perplexus around and try not to let the ball fall off the track. Like any good puzzle maze, there's a learning curve, and it takes time to master each of the different twists and turns, but that's what keeps this so engrossing. Kids can compete against friends to see who can solve the puzzle the fastest or race against the clock to beat their personal best score.

Who It’s For

Perplexus is for ages 8 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

For younger players or those who want an easier puzzle, there is Perplexus Rookie. For older players or those who are ready for the next challenge, there is Perplexus Epic and Perplexus Twist. Each is sold separately.
