Primary Science Plant & Grow Set Review (Learning Resources)

What It Is

The Primary Science Plant & Grow Set comes with 12 kid-friendly planting tools and 10 activity cards to build children's understanding of how plants grow. The activities are to be completed with the help of a parent or guardian. The tools include a watering can, an observation jar with solid lid and vented lid, a rooting tray, three pots, three plant markers, and a trowel. Parents introduce the set to children by showing and naming each tool, then demonstrating how each piece can be used. Kids can take time to explore the components on their own before engaging in the activities. Through the activities, kids can grow grass, make a terrarium, turn a carrot blue, and more. Additional supplies are needed for each activity, and they are listed on the activity card.

Is It Fun?

This is a hands-on science kit designed to make science fun and engaging for preschoolers. Kids will like that, with the help of mom and dad, they can conduct experiments and grow their own plants. However, some of the activities take a few days or even weeks to see results. This set is designed so that you can simultaneously do several activities for more timely results and less waiting for kids eager to see nature in action.

Who It’s For

The Plant & Grow Set is for ages 3 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Learning Resources reminds parents and children that plants make many, many seeds, and not all are expected to germinate. If your activity is not successful, try again. All scientists need to experience trial and error to learn what causes success and failure. Sometimes, it's just nature.

Additional Primary Science sets include Color Mixing Lenses and Test Tubes & Dropper. Each set is sold separately.
