SkaZooms Review (Jax Games)

What It Is

SkaZooms is a new collectible toy line featuring 10 different skateboard-riding characters. Blu, Gronk, Bot, Gurge, Skully, Grungy, Strawbs, Brownu, Didgi, and Sarge each come with a customized helmet and skateboard that can ride across any smooth surface. The helmets and skateboards can be mixed and matched among the different figures. The figures are sold separately and retail for $5.99. And there is a variety of playsets and accessories to help kids launch the figures and create some cool action.

Kids can store up to three SkaZooms figures, three helmets, and three skateboards in the Clip Case. Just load them in, close it up, and clip the case to your belt, waistband, or pocket to take you SkaZooms wherever you go. The Clip Case retails for $4.99. No SkaZooms are included with the Clip Case.

When you're ready to play with your SkaZooms, put them in a Stunt Bowl. In this handheld playset, you can flip, catch, and spin a SkaZoom. The Stunt Bowl retails for $7.99. It does not include any SkaZooms.

Use the Zoom Launcher to really send your SkaZooms flying. Load one SkaZoom at a time into this rubber band-powered device, pull back on the handle, and let go to watch the SkaZoom zoom. The Zoom Launcher retails for $9.99 and does not include any SkaZooms.

The Zoom Launcher is great for launching SkaZooms at the Bounce Park. Launch a SkaZooms up the ramp of this playset or bounce a SkaZooms against the rubber band in the front. The Bounce Park comes with 16 stickers that kids can use to decorate the playset. And the playset's steps offer three slots for storing SkaZooms skateboards. The Bounce Park retails for $14.99 and does not include any SkaZooms.

You can also launch SkaZooms up the Ramp Ride playset. Decorate this playset with the 14 included stickers, then launch your SkaZooms to try to get them to grind along the rails, launch off the kicker, and roll into the target. There are storage slots along the side of the Ramp Ride for storing skateboards. The Ramp Ride retails for $12.99 and does not include any SkaZooms.

Is It Fun?

This is a pretty fun toy line for kids who like collectible toys and skateboarding as well as basic action play. A big part of their appeal is their inherent simplicity. The SkaZooms move well on smooth surfaces, and there are many ways to play with them. Kids will like using the playsets and accessories to make their SkaZooms do different stunts and tricks as well as simply sliding the SkaZooms figures around the house.
