Beck and Bo Review (Avokiddo E. Katsantonis & sia e.e.)

What It Is

Beck and Bo is a free-play, exploration app perfect for young kids. Kids interact with the app's main characters, Beck and Bo, through 12 thematic areas that take kids for a trip to the grocery store to hunt for healthy foods, playing games and earning prizes at a carnival, or going on a jungle safari to meet elephants, giraffes, and more. Each area is open-ended enough to allow kids to move and interact with the objects as much or as little as they want.

In each thematic area you'll find thoughtfully added characters, objects, and other interactive elements that change what happens on the screen. A simple lowering of the sun in the sky changes the day to dusk. Moving Beck and Bo from the water to the beach shows the kids swimming with the dolphins. Each object is verbally identified with its name every time kids tap on it in the scene.

As you interact with the complete scene, kids earn a star and find that objects from the thematic area are saved in their own vocabulary journal. Each object is clearly labeled and presented in a way that is easy to swipe through and recognize.

Is It Fun?

Beck and Bo comes highly recommended because of how the app encourages your child's imagination to wonder as they interact with the kids, Beck and Bo, in the 12 thematic areas in the app. The app is also very pretty with a simple design that feels like a felt board or scrapbook-style book.
