Max Steel Interactive Steel with Turbo Sword Review (Mattel)

What It Is

Kids can bring Max Steel adventures home with the Max Steel Interactive Steel with Turbo Sword. The Disney XD show follows the adventures of 16-year-old Max McGrath who, with the help of an alien named Steel, must defeat Trans-Human Industries from taking over the galaxy.

The Interactive Steel comes on a display base and plays 19 phrases and sound effects straight from the animated Max Steel series. Push the button on Steel's head to activate the phrases and sounds and see Steel's LED face light up. Steel can also be attached to a child's shirt (a T-shirt works best) thanks to an under-shirt attachment base, letting kids "turbo-fy" themselves just like Max on the show.

When kids press a button, the Turbo Sword will light up and make sounds on its own, but it enters into Turbo Mode when Steel is attached. This allows the Turbo Sword to make battle noises when swung thanks to embedded motion sensors.

Is It Fun?

This is a fun way for kids to take on the role of Max and pretend to defeat the bad guys with help from Steel. The lights and sounds help bring Steel and the action from the show to life. And kids will like that they can play with Steel in three ways: stand-alone, on the sword, and on their shirt.
