CARES Child Aviation Restraint System Review (Kids Fly Safe LLC)

What It Is

The CARES Child Aviation Restraint System keeps a child snug and secure while riding in an airplane. It acts as a car seat when kids fly. This FAA-approved system is very easy to use. Simply loop the red strap over the seat and pull the loose end of the red strap until the strap is snug but not tight. The black shoulder harness goes over your child's head, and the airplane's seatbelt passes through the harness's bottom two loops. Buckle the seatbelt and tighten it snugly around the child. Then connect the center harness chest clip. In case of an emergency, you remove the lap belt and pull the shoulder harness over your child's head. CARES comes with a six-inch bag for storing everything when not in use.

Why Is It Useful?

This is a handy system for parents to use when flying. This is for children who are old enough to be in their own seats, but still too small for the seatbelt alone to protect them. Parents will like that it's easy to bring CARES with them and just as easy to set up once on the plane.

Who It’s For

The CARES Child Aviation Restraint System is for children 1 and up who weigh between 22 and 44 pounds, whose height is 40 inches or less, and who can sit upright unassisted.

What To Be Aware Of

Do not use CARES in a car. It has not been certified for use in cars.

It is not approved for use in First Class or Business Class cabins.

The CARES restraint goes over the back of the airplane seat. Depending on the type of seat tray, there are instructions for how to place the restraint over or under the tray. In some cases, if the person sitting behind your child needs to use his or her tray, you'll need to adjust the restraint so that the tray can fold down.

CARES is available to purchase from and in select Buy Buy Baby stores and specialty stores.
