Music Motion Marble Run Review (Hape)

What It Is

The Music Motion Marble Run is truly one of the coolest things we've seen in awhile and it's so simple. It's part of Hape's Quadrilla line. This 97-piece set is all about creative open-ended play as children build marble runs that are augmented by six metal xylophone keys that can be integrated into the creation and make chime noises as the marbles run past them. The instruction booklet suggests a dozen different configurations that you can build to send marbles running down the ramps and ringing the bells. Kids can create their own structures and even play some tunes, though you're limited to only six notes, but that doesn't really matter. Hape makes a variety of other sets, sold separately, that can be integrated with the Music Marble Motion Run for bigger building fun.

Is It Fun?

This is a beautifully engineered and made set. It's really engaging. Building with this toy sharpens visual acuity and direction following as well as helps kids understand spatial relationships. There's a lot of thinking that goes on in playing with this inherently simple toy. Playing with it is a building block for reasoning, problem solving, and more.

Who It’s For

The Music Motion Marble Run is for ages 4 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

This toy does use traditional glass marbles, so you'll want to keep those well out of reach of any children 3 or younger.

This is great for co-play with siblings of different ages.
