Dance Charades is a new way to play Charades. Players have a 40-second song to act out out as many items as they can. However, you can't just act out an item. You have to turn it into a dance move.
All players stand in a circle, and one player picks a card with a word on it. For example, tornado. Whoever is the DJ starts the music on the included CD, and the charades player acts/dances "tornado". The other players must guess what is being acted/danced out. If someone guess correctly, the charades player scores one point and draws another card. Play continues until the song on the CD ends, and the charades player adds up how many points he earned. The other players can also give the charades player a token for a job well done. The tokens add to the charades player's score. Then it's the next player's turn to act/dance. At the end of a certain number of rounds, the player with the most points wins.
Dance Charades is for four or more players. It comes with an audio CD, 300 cards, 300 tokens, a score pad, and a pencil.
This is a fun and active game, however, we would probably change the rules a bit because it would be too easy to cheat the way the game is played originally. If a guessing player doesn't earn points for guessing correctly, there is no incentive for that player to guess, and so a player could purposely guess incorrectly to hurt the charades player's chances of scoring points. We think it's better if the charades player AND the player who guesses correctly earn a point. Or perhaps you could play in teams instead of individually.
Dance Charades is for ages 8 and up.
The audio CD contains 40 songs that are all instrumental and feature different types of music, so this game is also a fun way to introduce kids to different types of music.
