The Poky Little Puppy Review (Golden Books)

What It Is

The Poky Little Puppy is part of the Golden Baby book series of board books that offer the youngest readers sturdy editions of classic Golden Books stories. This book, originally published in 1942, brings the classic story by Janette Sebring Lowrey and illustrations by Gustaf Tenggren to a new generation of kids. Five little puppies dig a hole under a fence and head out into the world. Every evening they come home, and their mother says, "No dessert." The poky little puppy was always the last to come home and would sneak and eat all the dessert every night. But one night, when mom said, "No more dessert", the four puppies went back out and filled up their holes under the fence. Their mom was so pleased that they got to have strawberry shortcake. The poky little puppy came home later to find no more dessert left for him.
