K'NEX has a new line of motorized building sets called Robo-Creatures that includes Robo-Smash, a robot monkey. The Robo-Smash set comes with 156 K'NEX parts, primarily rods and connectors, and a motor for exciting mechanical movement. Once built, turn it on to watch Robo-Smash hop along just like a primate. The switch on the motor can make Robo-Smash move forward or backward. Kids can combine Robo-Smash with the other two Robo-Creatures building sets (Robo-Strike and Robo-Sting), which are sold separately, to create the ultimate robotic creature.
It's pretty cool to watch this monkey robot walk back and forth. And kids will have a sense of accomplishment after building this model and then setting it in motion.
Robo-Smash is for ages 7 and up. It will appeal most to kids who like construction play and, of course, creating their own robotic toys.
Two AA batteries are required but not included.
This set took us 25 minutes to assemble.
The monkey's head tends to get turned around as it moves, so you might have to move the head back in place as you play.
