The basic strategy of the game Killer Bunnies and the Conquest of the Magic Carrot is to keep as many bunnies alive as possible while eliminating your opponents' bunnies. You must also try to collect as many carrots as possible in an attempt to end up with the Magic Carrot at the end of the game.
Each player receives seven cards and must start the game by playing a Bunny Card, if they have one. Place the Bunny Card face down in front of you. It becomes the Top Run Card. Then pick a second card from your hand to play and place it face down underneath the Bunny Card. This becomes the Bottom Run Card.
Now the game really starts. Take turns flipping over the Top Run Card, sliding the Bottom Run Card up to the Top Run position, drawing a replacement card from the Draw Pile, and replacing the Bottom Run Card with a card from your hand. The Top Run Card that gets flipped over is the card that goes into play. There are several different types of cards: Run, Special, and Very Special. These cards allow you to perform different actions on other players' bunnies and your own. You might get to take two carrots, force an opponent to discard any weapon cards in his hand, or revive Bunny Cards from the discard pile.
There are also Play Immediately Cards that cause a player's bunny to die, and Metal Cards that a player can exchange for Kaballa Dolla, the in-game currency used to purchase Carrots. Players might also draw Kaballa Dolla cards from the Draw Pile, which they must immediately place face-up in front of them.
The game is over when the last carrot is chosen or purchased from the market. Take the small deck of carrot cards and choose the last card in the deck to determine the Magic Carrot. The player holding that Carrot Card is the winner.
Killer Bunnies and the Conquest of the Magic Carrot comes with 165 large cards (including Blue Starter Deck and Yellow Booster Deck), 36 small cards, 30 vouchers, three six-sided dice, six 12-sided dice, and instructions. The game is for two to eight players.
This is definitely a game for older kids and adults who enjoy these types of card games and who have the patience to sit and learn how to play.
Killer Bunnies and the Conquest of the Magic Carrot is for ages 13 and up.
Killer Bunnies and the Conquest of the Magic Carrot is not a game that you can sit down and start to play immediately. There are two instruction booklets that you must read through carefully in order to understand all the different cards and all the different moves. We've only given you a brief overview of the gameplay. The game instructions go more in depth with card specifics and strategy techniques.
Booster Decks for Killer Bunnies are available and sold separately. This game is fully compatible with Killer Bunnies Quest, which is sold separately.
