LEGO Legends of Chima CHI Waterfall Review (LEGO)

What It Is

With the CHI Waterfall set, part of the new Legends of Chima building theme, kids compete to win the CHI orb for the lion tribe. The story behind Legends of Chima is that, at one time, human-like animals lived together in harmony. Chima was once a paradise, but heavily armed barbarian species have changed it, and now best friends have become enemies, fighting over a powerful natural resource called CHI. It is the source of life, but if put in the wrong hands, it can also lead to destruction.

This 106-piece set lets kids unleash the Speedor at the CHI Waterfall target. Attach Leonidas to the lion Speedor, pull the ripcord, and aim for the target to catch the CHI orb. Attach the power-up for more stability and super Speedor control.

The player who grabs the CHI orb first gets to flip a game card and choose a battle power: instinct, speed, courage, or strength. The second player chooses a different game card and the same battle power as the first player. Compare the two battle powers on the cards. The player with the highest power wins two CHI. So if the first player chooses instinct, which has a power of 40 on one card, and the second player's card gives instinct a power of 50, the second player would score the two CHI. Also, when you flip a card, you may pay one CHI to add a CHI bonus to the battle powers designated on the card. The player to collect six CHI first is the winner.

The set includes a Leonidas minifigure with two weapons, a Speedor, a ripcord, a power-up, six CHI, and five game cards. This set can be combined with the Legends of Chima Ring of Fire and Boulder Bowling sets, which are sold separately.

Is It Fun?

This is an action-packed set that lets kids build the action, practice their Speedor skills, and play out the Legends of Chima storyline. Kids can compete against friends to catch the CHI orb and collect the most CHI.

There is a bit of a learning curve to launching the Speedor, so it might take kids some practice and patience to figure out the best launching technique. But that's all part of the play.
