G.I. JOE: Retaliation Snake Eyes Ninja Gear Review (Hasbro)

What It Is

G.I. JOE is back this spring with a new movie, G.I. JOE: Retaliation. Kids can take on the role of iconic Ninja Commando Snake Eyes from the G.I. JOE team with the G.I. JOE: Retaliation Snake Eyes Ninja Gear. This roleplay set comes with two plastic ninja throwing stars, a Snake Eyes mask with an elastic strap, and an electronic sword with an authentic Arashikage design. Turn on the sword to watch it light up, then press the button on the hilt for ninja battle sounds.

Is It Fun?

Kids can pretend to be just like Snake Eyes and defeat COBRA with the Snake Eyes Ninja Gear set. The sound effects from the sword help bring to life a real ninja battle. All the pieces in this roleplay set engage kids in open-ended, imaginative play.

Who It’s For

The Snake Eyes Ninja Gear is for G.I. JOE fans ages 5 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

Three AAA batteries are included, but they power the in-store try-me features. It's recommended that you replace them before you play for best results.

Do not swing the sword at people or animals. Use the sword and ninja stars away from breakable objects.

The movie is rated PG-13 because of violence, so it may not be appropriate for all children even if the violence is very cartoon-like. This is always a challenge with toys based on these types of movies. Collectors and G.I. JOE fans want plenty of non-stop action and insist on at least a PG-13 rating. As always, parents need to determine what’s appropriate for their family and their individual kids. For kids who love G.I. JOE and action figures, though, there’s plenty of play built into these action figures even if the kids don’t see the movie.
