G.I. JOE: Retaliation Ninja Commando Blaster Review (Hasbro)

What It Is

The G.I. JOE: Retaliation Ninja Commando Blaster lets kids pretend to defeat the COBRA enemies. It's based on the new movie G.I. JOE: Retaliation, which hits theaters March 28, 2013. This multi-dart, pump-action blaster features a targeting lens to spy on the enemy and helps kids aim the projectiles. The blaster includes 10 plastic-tipped dart projectiles and a targeting screen.

Is It Fun?

This is an easy-to-use blaster that lets kids play out battle scenes from the new movie or imagine all-new adventures as they pretend to take down COBRA. The dart projectiles fly pretty far, too. We were able to launch them 40 feet.

Who It’s For

The G.I. JOE: Retaliation Ninja Commando Blaster is for G.I. JOE fans ages 6 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

When you load the dart projectiles, make sure they are pushed in all the way.

Use only the darts designed for this product. Do not aim the darts at eyes or faces.

The movie is rated PG-13 because of violence, so it may not be appropriate for all children even if the violence is very cartoon-like. This is always a challenge with toys based on these types of movies. Collectors and G.I. JOE fans want plenty of non-stop action and insist on at least a PG-13 rating. As always, parents need to determine what’s appropriate for their family and their individual kids. For kids who love G.I. JOE and action figures, though, there’s plenty of play built into these action figures even if the kids don’t see the movie.
