Jake and the Never Land Pirates Hook’s Jolly Roger Review (Fisher-Price)

What It Is

Preschoolers can climb aboard Hook's pirate ship, based on the ship from the Jake and the Never Land Pirates TV series. Hook's Jolly Roger comes with a 3.5-inch Hook figure that can be placed onto the middle deck of the ship and slide the figure forward to make the wooden plank emerge. There is also a working cannon that can be placed in different locations along the deck of the ship. It comes with three plastic water projectiles that can be loaded and fired one at a time. Hook can also be placed in the crow's nest to look out for treasure or his enemies. On the upper deck, there is a free-spinning steering wheel and secret trap door. Push down with the figure on the trap door, and the figure will fall through into the captain's quarters. The ship also has real rolling wheels so kids can push it along. As it is pushed, the ship rocks from side to side, giving it the feel of being on the water. Captain Hook and the water projectiles can be stored inside the captain's quarters when playtime is over.

Is It Fun?

While the toy is based on the TV series, it's also a springboard for imaginative play. Preschoolers will have fun taking on the role of the bad guy, trying to steal Jake's treasure. Kids can create scenes inspired by the TV show or imagine all-new pirate adventures with Hook and his ship.
