Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze Review (Little Orbit)

What It Is

Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze is a kart style racing game where kids race as the Monster High characters on roller skates. All of the race courses take place in and around Monster High and they have a creepy but fun look that you would expect in a Monster High video game.

There are two main modes to the game – single player and multi-player. Both modes involve kids creating teams of three Monster High characters that they will race against computer-controlled teams. The characters include Frankie Stein, Draculaura, Clawdeen Wolf, Lagoona Blue, Gil, Clawd Wolf and more.

Is It Fun?

In the single player game mode, kids create a three-monster team of their favorite Monster High characters, then take turns racing as all three characters. Kids can choose when to switch between the characters, which adds some strategy fun to the game because the characters get tired while racing and need to take breaks. It’s up to the kids to figure out when to switch racers in order to maximize each one’s energy.

The multi-player game mode is essentially the same three-monster team race, however, up to three kids can play and control each of the three characters on the team. They will still need to trade off as each character gets tired, which gives all the kids an equal chance to play.

Who It’s For

Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze is rated E for everyone. It’s a simple and cute game that young Monster High fans, around the ages of 5 to 8, will enjoy.

What To Be Aware Of

There are several different racing modes for both single and multi-player but they all involve racing against the computer characters. While a multi-player mode that allowed kids to compete against each other would be fun, some parents will appreciate the non-competitive nature of the game.

Skultimate Roller Maze is available for the Wii, DS and 3DS. We used the Wii edition for this review so the handheld versions will be slightly different but the basics remain the same.
