The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey The Goblin King Battle Review (LEGO)

What It Is

Kids can help save the company of dwarves with The Goblin King Battle building set based on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which hits theaters December 14, 2012. In this set, the goblins have captured and imprisoned the dwarves. Gandalf the Grey must sneak past the Goblin King to set the dwarves free. Using the 841 pieces in this set, kids build the cave complete with a firing catapult, collapsing rope bridge, working bucket crane, tipping ladder, and hidden treasure. But beware of the Goblin King's trapping function. The set comes with a Gandalf the Grey minifigure and seven exclusive minfigures: Dori the Dwarf, Nori the Dwarf, Ori the Dwarf, a Goblin Scribe, two Goblin Soldiers, and a two-inch Goblin King figure. Each of the minifigures, with the exception of the Goblin King, has two faces. Kids just turn a figure's head to change the figure's facial expression. Accessories include a map, skulls, bone elements, torches with flame elements, golden crystals, and the Goblin King's crown and bone scepter. Weapons include four swords, two axes, a staff, a ball and chain, a club, a mace, and more.

This set took us two hours to assemble. The instructions were very easy to follow. The pieces are divided up into three bags, each with its own set of instructions. Don't mix pieces from the different bags together or building will become confusing.
