With Power Pro Electric Football, you get to be the coach and call the plays on this 20-inch by 11-inch playing field. The game is designed to play like real football. It includes two teams: red and white. Both you and your opponent have a team of 11 football players. The skill and strategy you use in setting up your team and your plays will determine who wins. The instruction booklet includes some plays to help you get started. Set up the players on the field and turn on the board. The board will shake, which causes the playing figures to move around. You control the amount of vibration with the speed control knob located behind the goalpost. Different amounts of vibration will cause your players to move in different ways along the field. You can also "throw" passes by placing the football in the quarterback figure's hand and pulling back to launch. If you want to kick a field goal, place the football in front of the player's foot and pull back on the lever to "kick" the ball.
Power Pro Electric Football comes with 24 Small Size Rookie Regular Double Clip Bases, 22 Small Size Football Action Figures, two Triple Threat Quarterbacks, a black uniform number sheet, a white uniform number sheet, goalposts, six Official Tudor Felt Footballs, a 10-yard marker, a ball marker slider, a down marker, a score pad, an automatic timer minute wheel and felt washer, an automatic timer second wheel, and an official rule book and assembly instructions.
This is a new version of a game that has been around since 1947 and has inspired Electric Football leagues and competitions around the country.
The appeal of this classic game fun is that while you're learning the strategy of football and placement of the figures, once you turn on the power, the vibration causes the players' movement to be random. In other words, you can't be sure if the end run you've thought up is actually going to happen. But that's always been part of the fun of this—setting a whole team of players in motion and seeing where they end up.
Power Pro Electric Football is for ages 8 and up.
It will certainly appeal to adults who may remember playing with this as a kid.
There's a bit of a learning curve to Power Pro Electric Football, especially when it comes to throwing and kicking the ball. With a lot of practice, though, this game can be a lot of fun. It's also a good way to learn how the game of football is played.
Some kids may find the random movement a little frustrating, while others will enjoy that part of the game the most.
