Woodrow for President: A Tail of Voting, Campaigns and Elections Review (Little Patriot Press)

What It Is

Woodrow G. Washingtail is a civic-minded mouse with presidential ambitions. This story follows Woodrow from his early days in school to his time as governor of Moussouri, and finally to his bid for President of the United Mice of America. Throughout the story, kids will learn about campaigning, primaries, caucuses, debates and other elements of the long road to the White House.

Is It Fun?

Woodrow for President is from Peter and Cheryl Barnes, creators of Nat Nat the Nantucket Cat Goes to the Beach, one of my family’s all-time favorite books. This book is a fun and effective way to help explain to kids the very complex process of electing a president. The story is very entertaining and informative, without being too loaded with hard-to-understand details. The illustrations are fun and have a Secret Service agent hidden on every page. And, best of all ... there’s no negative campaign ads!

Who It’s For

Because this book is on the long side, it would appeal most to ages 7 and up. Parents or teachers may need to read it in parts for younger kids.

What To Be Aware Of

Woodrow for President is from a new imprint called Little Patriot Press and it may be hard to find in libraries and bookstores. But, it is available at major online retailers.
