Barbie: The Princess and the Popstar Tori Doll Review (Mattel)

What It Is

In the Barbie DVD The Princess and the Popstar, Tori is a princess who wishes to be a pop star, while Keira is a pop star who longs to be a princess. The two girls magically change places, and kids can recreate this transformation with the Barbie: The Princess and the Popstar Tori doll. Easily change the doll's royal gown and elegant hairstyle into a rocking concert costume, complete with colorful hairdo.

Tori wears a pink gown with a sparkly bodice and white lace overlay. A matching tiara, heart-shaped necklace, and flowing blond hair complete the look. When it's time to rock the kingdom, kids can pull the drawstring on the back of Tori's gown to reveal a shimmery blue skirt and boots. Rotate Tori's hair 180 degrees to give the doll a hot-pink hairdo and glittery headband. To return Tori to a princess look, just wrap the long skirt back around the front.

The doll also sings two songs from the movie: "Princesses Want to Have Fun" and "Here I Am." Just press the jewel in Tori's necklace to hear the songs. And if you place The Princess and the Popstar Keira doll (sold separately) next to Tori and press their necklaces at the same time, you'll hear the two dolls sing "Here I Am" together in harmony, just like in the movie.

Is It Fun?

With the Barbie: The Princess and the Popstar Tori doll, kids can recreate scenes from the movie or imagine all-new musical adventures for Tori. Kids will love being able to recreate the transformation from princess to pop star that is so central to the movie's storyline. This musical doll helps bring the magic and music of the movie to life as well as engages kids in lots of imaginative play.

Who It’s For

The Tori doll is for The Princess and the Popstar fans ages 3 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

This is a classic play theme for kids as they imagine themselves in completely different lives and worlds. However this theme is expressed, it's always appealing to kids.

The doll includes four button cell batteries. These power the in-store try-me feature, and it is recommended that you replace them before you play for best results.

Make sure you remove the plastic try-me tab from the back of the doll so that you hear longer snippets of the two songs.

The doll's dress is not removable.
