Bug Out Review (Out of the Box)

What It Is

In Bug Out, players race to capture bugs by covering each Bug Card with a matching Leaf Card. The first player to cover all his matching Bug Cards wins.

To start, scatter all the Bug Cards onto the playing surface, and spread them out so they're not overlapping or touching. The dealer shuffles the square Leaf Cards and deals out all cards face down. The number of players you have depends on how many Leaf Cards each player gets. For example, if you have two players, each player receives 18 cards. Each player, without looking at his or her cards, picks up his or her stack of Leaf Cards and holds it in one hand. When the dealer says "Go!", all players flip over the Leaf Cards in their hands and race to find the round Bug Card with the matching image. When you find a match, place the Leaf Card face down on top of the Bug Card.

Bug Out comes with 36 Round Bug Cards, 36 Square Leaf Cards, rules, and a deluxe card case. It is for two to six players.

Is It Fun?

Bug Out is a fast-paced matching game that young kids will love. The bug images are silly and cartoonish not gross. The game is easy to play, but finding the matches can be challenging because some of the bug images look similar. It helps if you also look for the matching color between the Bug and Leaf Cards.

Who It’s For

Bug Out is for ages 5 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

The instructions also include a variation on the gameplay called BIG Bug Out. Instead of playing at a table, you spread the cards on the floor, and players have to run around the room to find the matching Bug Cards.
