Colorfall Review (Marbles Brain Workshop)

What It Is

Colorfall is a new and more colorful way to play with dominoes. Kids love setting up dominoes, knocking them down, and listening to them click-clack as they fall. But with Colorfall, kids can set up colorful wooden tiles in elaborate designs, then watch them fall to create an image. The eco-friendly, hand-painted wooden tiles come with 20 design cards with images such as the Eiffel Tower, a garden gnome, and a clownfish. Just set up the tiles according to the design card, then knock them down to reveal the image. Or use your imagination to create your own colorful designs and images.

Is It Fun?

Colorfall is an interesting new take on one way of playing with dominoes that merges dominoes with design. The colors on the tiles are really pretty, and kids will love how the images come to life as the tiles fall. Kids will also have fun creating and knocking down their own colorful set-ups.

Who It’s For

Colorfall is for ages 8 and up.

What To Be Aware Of

It can be a little frustrating to set up the tiles. Sometimes you accidentally knock over a tile as you're building, and everything falls over and you have to start over again. You'll need patience to get these tiles set up. There are tips in the instruction booklet on how to help prevent the tiles from falling over too soon. But it still might be difficult for younger kids to do. Mom and dad may need to help out.

Make sure you pay attention to the design card so that you place the tiles in the right spot and knock over the right tile to start the domino effect. If you knock over the wrong tile first, not all of the tiles will fall over and you won't be able to see the image.

At the same time, all of these elements are part of the play. Kids can explore spatial relationships and try to see in their minds' eyes how the dominoes will fall as they position them. It's about the process—and trial and error—as much as the result. While, as noted, some kids will find this frustrating, others will find it fascinating as they develop their skill and abilities.
